Agriturismo Sant'Agata

Great place with nice rooms, but managed poorly. We were made to leave early because they overbooked. This is a management problem, not a customer problem.

To start, I gave the location five stars because we loved being in the hills and away from the well beaten track. We go on holiday to relax but also to explore. We choose this hotel because it was not too far from my grandmother's birth town and it had a swimming pool. So, now, on to the hotel - we adored this place. It was in a beautiful setting and the buildings were set in a profusion of flowering shrubs with mountain views. Great swimming pool and this is a rare thing in these parts. There was great wi-fi everywhere. No televisions in the room which was more than okay by us - we go on holiday to relax by the pool and explore the region - not to watch CNN or Sky News. The food was excellent - delicious, unpretentious and unfussy and were all made with the freshest local ingredients. Best of all was the service - the family who own Sant' Agata could not be more gracious and helpful in every way. They were happy to store my husband's insulin in their fridge and bring to us twice a day. When my husband decided he was fed up with driving - the roads are winding and it can be exhausting making long drives - they secured an amazing driver for us - Giovanni Di Giorgio. If you are a traveller who wants the ordinary and predictable this part of Sicily is not for you. If you want the real Sicilian country house experience this part of Sicily and Agriturismo Sant'Agata is the place for you. We stayed nine days as we explored towns in the region and went to the fabulous Bagheria and finished up with three days in Palermo. We were sad to leave.

If you want peace in your holiday, this is the place to be. It's nice, but so quiet that you get lonely. Only monotonous breakfast, every day the same, food is really bad, about every day the same, cause I had diarrhea the whole time. The roads towards this "farm hotel", are so bad, that if you don't have the extra package of full insurance to cover damage to wheels, tires, chassis or car paint, you will get billed by the car rental company. I whish I knew before, that literally all roads to this place, were 'that' bad. I would never advise to a anybody to travel to this place, any time of the year. There are literally: no restaurants, no supermarkets, there is no TV, no amusement, no pleasant feeling about this place. We probably lost €880 euros because we left to soon on a Sunday, simply because the owners do not speak any other language and the ones who does, are mostly gone. I all seriousness: Bad advise to go there.

An excellent place to stay while walking the Magna Via Francigena in June. Large comfortable room and a very good shower. Super friendly owners and staff who made us feel very welcome and cooked us a delicious meal much of which was local ingredients/dishes.

Long overdue review. I stayed here this summer with my boyfriend and we had the most incredible experience. This is a family run b+b, the photos on the website do not do it justice. Our room was huge and the food was the best we had during our whole trip to Italy. I cannot stress how lovely the staff was, especially the young guy (I'm forgetting his name) but he made the best Bolognese I've ever had in my life. We will definitely be back!
