Guest reviews
Spent a week at this hotel with two friends on the beautiful island of Ischia. Cannot say enough about this hotel and its welcoming helpful staff. You stay there for the breathtaking views but go back for the staff, front desk and servers. We had two rooms both with balcony, always cleaned and fresh towels daily. This family run hotel has that authentic feel with outdoor seating of views of the mountains, sea and lush landscape. Can use some improvements like a bigger shower but makes up for it by the staff. Few issues we had upon checkin were quickly resolved. Breakfast features delicious homemade goods and the dinners we ate there were also tasty. We relied on staff for recommendations and getting around island. Everyone we dealt with took time to help us. Only change I would make is to have more hours that the shuttle service is provided especially at night. Only two points where shuttle drops you off and timing limited. We managed with bus and taxis when not available. I would definitely go back.
The best thing about this hotel is the views & pleasant staff, the rest of the hotel, rooms & grounds are in desperate need of renovation. The hotel, rooms & grounds are dated, poorly maintained & uncared for. We supposedly had a room with a Sea view - but it was basically a view of a dumping ground. We chose not to use the restaurant as it didn't seem to be a pleasant environment & was expensive compared to other nicer restaurants on the island. We would definitely return to Ischia but not this hotel.
The front desk management of this hotel does not seem genuinely interested in actually solving issues guests present them with, nor in preventing guests from having those issues to begin with. If the automated message that goes out on one of your booking sites doesn't include important public transit information, don't argue with your guests and tell them it must have been a problem just with their reservation. Fix your outgoing message. If your wifi doesn't function at all in the guest's room, and when a speed test reveals that it is no better in the common areas of the hotel, don't pretend that offering them a change of room will solve the fundamental problem, which is that the hotel does not offer adequately fast wifi in every room, as it advertises. And definitely don't show the guest your phone in order to prove that the wifi works. If the guest says it doesn't, it doesn't; period. Don't provide your guests with pillows that are not actually pillows, but old chunks of polyester fluff stuffed into pillow cases. They did replace these pillows in our case, but only after I complained. Why should a guest have to even find such a pillow on their bed in the first place? When you clean the rooms, surely you notice that the shower door is very difficult to open and close. Fix that, perhaps, instead of making the guest report it to you. If your listings say you offer a shuttle service to the main town, perhaps add a sentence to that listing to clarify that the shuttle does not offer initial pick up or drop off, since most reasonable people will assume that it does as hotel shuttles typically do. If you aren't going to respond to guest inquiries on the booking app, don't have a sentence in the outgoing message of the booking app that asks the guest to let you know when they will be arriving. This leads the guest to assume that you are checking the booking app communication; in our case, we waited for hours to get a response to the questions we sent via the booking app, all of which felt important to us (and we never actually got an answer via that app, but rather had to call to get one). If you are going to offer a hairdryer, make sure it works so a guest can actually use it. And if a guest complains about your services, don't make the guest feel bad for complaining. Telling a guest you believe them, and then printing out photocopies of supposed proof of your position does not make a guest feel like they are being taken seriously. Rather, this is gaslighting. Finally, don't send the sweet older owner who hardly speaks English out to make the guest explain, all over again, the issues they had with your hotel. This is a manipulative move and in our case, was very unappreciated. If the guest doesn't ask to talk to the owner, the owner doesn't need to get involved. Try a sincere apology instead, an approach that doesn't seek to prove your position but that rather shows the guest you intend to make some changes around your hotel so future guests don't have a similar experience. That would be true hospitality. And please, use a fitted sheet on your beds. This is the first hotel I have ever visited anywhere in the world that didn't. All that said, I will say that the owner is very kind and the view is beautiful. Nice breakfast too
This is a gorgeous spot to have as your holiday base. The staff were all friendly, they had an up to date whatsapp service which you could book things through, pretty good WiFi, a beautiful lounge, free shuttle services down to the nearest place to visit and to a few other locations too! The view from this places was probably the best bit about it. The swimming pool on the roof was scenic and gorgeous but pretty cold. Luckily, they had an indoor smaller pool (more for a dip than a swim) which was always warm. Rooms kept clean every day whenever you left was great. Kitchen staff amazing, front of house amazing. ***bathrooms need updating here*** the shower curtain stuck to my body as it was so small in there and I am used to a small shower less than 1m by 1m. So be careful of this if you have mobility issues. Thats the only reason why I've given rooms 3*** and I see it's been mentioned in other reviews too. Thanks for a brilliant week.
This hotel is AMAZING. It has the best views imaginable… an ocean view from the terrace, a mountain view next to the pool and a great sunset spot. Do not skip the restaurant for dinner because has some of the best food we ate on the island. Not to mention the breakfast spread is also delicious and plentiful. The best part is the staff… they are the nicest people, so friendly and accommodating. Best hotel in Ischia by far!!!
