Maritrí Affittacamere

Rooms to rent in Marzamemi, a charming fishing village in south-east Sicily.

About

Maritrí is located in Marzamemi, one of Sicily's most beautiful coastal villages, with its ancient tuna fishery, waterfront piazza and fishermen's houses in the Syracuse area. It's a base for experiencing this magical corner, between the beaches, the Vendicari nature reserve, Isola delle Correnti and the baroque towns of Noto and Modica. Here you'll taste fresh fish, Nero d'Avola wine and sunsets over the sea. The perfect address for a holiday combining crystal waters, village atmosphere and the baroque architecture of Val di Noto.

The location is beautiful, even though it's on the third floor without an elevator. The view is worth the trip, overlooking all of Marzamemi, from the square to the main street to the sea. The room is a bit small, but it has all the comforts. The very kind hostess even gave us a bar of homemade soap at the end of our stay. We'll definitely be back. I highly recommend it.

The apartment is clean and fully equipped. The owner, Mrs. Lucia, is sweet, kind, and welcoming; she even gave us a handcrafted soap when we said goodbye. Highly recommended, especially since it's just a few meters from the famous Marzami square. A huge thank you again to Mrs. Lucia.

Very friendly host, the room was very clean and well maintained. A footstep away from the very charming historical centre and the beach.

I'm giving one star because I can't give less. A fairly nice room. We had requested a room with three beds, only to change it with 20 days' notice. We arrived in Marzamemi, and the lady was insistently checking in. The lady was literally waiting for us in the middle of the street, where she had a small table that doubled as an office. (Invisible invoice). We entered the room, and it had two beds: a double and a single. When paying (cash only, of course), Mrs. Lucia charged us the full price of a triple room, even though she claimed on the phone when we changed rooms that there were no problems whatsoever. So much so, that when paying, the lady even pretended not to remember the phone call. When booking over the phone, the lady also promised breakfast (did you see it?), but we certainly didn't. A total disappointment. The only positive aspect was the room's location (right in the center). For the same price, we could have stayed in one of those villas rented in Marzamemi.

Centrally located, but expensive, and the hostess wasn't very friendly. I think the value for money is poor because the prices are high. The problem is that everyone wants to go to Marzamemi, and there are few accommodations, especially in the center like this one. The rooms are clean, but often have windowless bathrooms and are small. The location, however, is excellent because it's centrally located, and the upper floors have a beautiful view. It's recommended for those who want to stay in the center.
