Agriturismo La Canestra

Rooms
6 rooms

Agriturismo with rooms, traditional cuisine and educational farm in the high Aquila area, towards the Monti della Laga.

About

Capitignano sits in the northern corner of the Aquila region, where the Gran Sasso gives way to the Monti della Laga. La Canestra brings together three things it does well: six rooms for guests, the traditional cooking of the area, and an educational farm for those travelling with children. Pets are welcome. It's a mountain agriturismo, straightforward and unpretentious, perfect for those who want to walk, eat well and sleep in true quiet.

Beautiful and quiet location. We had a restful stay and enjoyed the delicious meals from the farm. After coming from Rome, it was a breath of fresh air to have real home cooked food grown locally. We were healed! The family was very welcoming. There are some great mountains views all within a short drive from there. Even in November

Quiet and peaceful place in a small village in an amazingly beautiful area. Friendly people, homely cuisine - few, local ingredients lovingly prepared. Clean and quiet rooms, comfortable beds.

Deserves a Michelin star. Nothing more to say. Some things were the best I've ever tasted. Definitely the best food on our trip through Italy.

We came here as we saw quite a few good reviews. Not really knowing much about the place, we were very impressed!! As the comment below said it was truly a magical experience. We sat outside surrounded by the herbs, hanging corn and a view of the veggie patch surrounded by luscious green mountains. There was an abundance of food, from Antipasti with bread and homemade ricotta, fresh pasta with authentic ingredients picked fresh from the garden that morning. Although we were full to the brim when we were offered Arrosticini we couldn't say no. Cooked on the outdoor oven/grill they did not dissapoint. Finished off with a mixed cake plate and coffee we left feeling like we had an experience we truly with never forget

I am originally from Abruzzo and i have always found difficult to recommend a place that would be representing it in terms of: respect for traditions, ancient unique food, kindness and love for the nature. One stop shop is La Canastra.
